WARD CHRISTMAS PARTY

Every couple of years we have "A Night in Bethlehem" for our ward party.

Our little family after our long trek to Bethlehem

My kids first stop was the toy shop with their friends

Jack enjoying a bowl of soup

Mason won a back scratcher at the toy shop and
preceded to scratch the backs of  his friends and anyone else in reach

Cooper and his buddy Kale as shepherds

We had a great night. It was a great way to kick off the holiday season

THANKSGIVING IN VIRGINIA

Well I've procrastinated long enough. I seem to be easily overwhelmed with the amount of pictures we take. So here is my attempt at documenting the highlights of our trip.

Thanksgiving day at Kelly and Scott's house. Dad is rockin it in a festive apron don't you think? And I think it's safe to say that we have a pretty good looking group of cousins on the end there. They are all growing up way to fast.

Here is our little shout out to Maria who couldn't be there but was on the phone. Sorry you missed it sis!

There really should be a vampire at all family functions. I like how captivated Uncle Christian is by little Mason. Scott and Kelly had a house full. Thanks for letting us come be a part of it guys!

What would a Virginia Thanksgiving in the boonies be without some target practice. Cooper was the first to step up and try it. Dad was there for some instruction and Cherie's coat helped cushion the blow to my arm when I fired. We were aiming for a #10 can which I totally missed.

A little Christmas music to begin the Holiday season. Cooper was a little bummed he did not bring his Trombone but we just didn't have room to pack it.

Annual making of the gingerbread houses. Mom decided to do it over Thanksgiving so our kids could also participate. Thanks mom, as you can see, the kids loved it.

 The proud architects

Family time!
A couple of the pictures are doubled but they are so cute I'm not going to worry about it.

Welcome to the family! Kaleb Holt Starnes was born the tuesday before Thanksgiving. Thanks for making an early appearance so we could get this adorable shot. Even with his eyes closed he did not like the flash.
Our trip could not be complete without a stop in Maryland to see Victor's Uncle Avery and family. The kids had a great time playing together and look forward to another Nerf battle in the future.
So there it is, our very fun Thanksgiving holiday that went by way to fast!

THERE'S AN IDEA!!

I love it when my kids are really listening when we read scriptures. It's fun to see where the conversation will go. We have been reading the Book of Mormon Stories for the last few weeks. Friday we read the account of the three Nephites. Ella was very interested in this story. She was trying to wrap her mind around the idea that they are still here today and who they are when Cooper said,
" what are their names? We could Google 'em."
I got such a kick out of that I had to share.

FALL FUN!!

It's that time again...
The annual raking of the leaves
It looks like any other perfectly raked pile of leaves.... or is it?
Yes!!! The long awaited reward for all their hard work, destroying all their hard work.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

We went to a Trunk-or-Treat on Saturday.
The kids had a great time and have more candy than they can handle, but that's what mom and dad are for.
Never trust a Zombie

The Little Devil with her daddy

Trunk-or-Treat anyone??
We couldn't let the kids have all the fun dressing up.
How cute are we?

Not as cute as these little guys, ok, maybe cute isn't the right word to describe Cooper . Say hello to the Zombie, Winnie the Pooh's Hunny pot, Tigger, and our Little Devil

STARFISH

The leaves have all pretty much changed except for the ones in our backyard. For some reason they are always the last ones to turn. It worked out this year that they were so slow because we got a pretty cool picture out of it.
Getting ready for school a couple of weeks ago, Ella came running in to tell me she had found a starfish....
Pretty cool Ella!

TRIP TO THE APPLE ORCHARD

We didn't pick many apples this year but there was still lots of fun to be had
Jack is always up for tossing anything
Black Walnuts it is!
Tree swings are the best!

A little help here!

What big eyes you have!!

No corn maze is going to stop my boy, he'll just make his own way out.

I WANT TO LOOK JUST LIKE YOU DADDY!!

October has passed me by and I have failed miserably at blogging so here's my attempt to catch you up, starting with this little gem.
It's all about the hair or lack there of in this case. After Mason experimented with a mohawk he got to cut his hair short so he could look like dad.
A darling duo if I do say so myself

PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND

OK! I should have blogged this trip last month but I was soooo overwhelmed by the amount of pictures I took that I didn't know where to begin. In September Lee and Emily and Emily's sister Mickey and her husband Pete took a trip up the Maine coast, all the way to Prince Edward Island, and invited our family to come along. We left friday morning, Sept. 10 and were back home by Tuesday, Sept. 14. It was a world wind tour but I think I've got it pretty well documented in the following pictures.Well, here goes...
Our first stop was Bath, ME where we stopped to stretch our legs.

Sweet children, they don't realize we're just getting started
I like this picture of the boardwalk Victor took
Fort Edgecomb
This Fort just happens to be up from where we stopped so we had to explore

Mickey and Pete Wilkins
Victor with Emily and Jack

We drove all the way to the border town of Cailus, Me. This is where we stayed the first night. We took this picture the next morning before we crossed the border.
Our first stop after crossing the border into Canada. This is the home of the Reverse Falls.
We got there after the tide came in so we didn't get the full experience. Apparently it is quite a sight to watch all that water come rushing thru.

Ahhhhhhh....

Need I say more?

Confederate Bridge
This bridge is 13 miles long but still faster than the ferry you used to have to take to get to Prince Edward Island

The reason we made the trip, to see all things Anne. Starting with the resting place of her creator, L.M. Montgomery

How could we come to see all things Anne and stay anywhere else but the Anne Shirley Motel

The house that inspired it all, Green Gables

Had to get a picture of the dress with puffed sleeves (all you Anne enthusiasts will understand)

Heather, Mickey and Emily before taking our fateful trip into the Haunted Wood

Where else could we be but Lover's Lane. I must have been having a good time because this picture was my idea

I couldn't resist this shot especially after reading the following......

They had quotes from L.M.M all around the spot where the house she grew up in used to stand. She loved growing up there and reading her quotes was like hearing Anne speaking.

We couldn't resist the gift shops, Ella was not the only one to get into the spirit

Bosom Buddies

They can totally pull this look off

Kindred Spirits

Sipping some Rasberry Cordial

We stopped in at Avonlea Village for some Rasberry Cordial.

While exploring the island we stopped here for a few pictures.
Not a bad view
Later that night we went to the National Park in Cavendish and enjoyed romping around on the red sand beaches

Cold but still having fun

On our way home we stopped at Hopewell Rocks

These next few pictures are of the Flower Pot rocks before high tide
In a couple of hours the hole we are standing under will be under water.

Cooper, Mason, Victor, Ella, and Heather

You can't come to Maine without going to see Eartha. She resides at the DeLorme Map store in Freeport, ME

The Portland Lighthouse is another must see. You can also see the original lighthouse on the horizon in this picture

I think we're all ready for some rest after our vacation

And last but not least you can't come to Maine without enjoying some Maine "lobsta"

We had a great time. Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Van Gieson and Aunt Mickey and Uncle Pete for letting our family tag along.
