Cooper had a very busy weekend. Saturday he had his final basketball game of the season. I finally brought the camera to snap a few pics of the team in action. Boy was there some action! Cooper played some very impressive defense. He totally shut down the best player on the other team. In the last quarter he got hit in the face with the ball and kept playing with a bloody nose until he fiinally told his coach/dad that he was bleeding! They had to stop the game so they could mop up the floor. It was a real team effort. Way to take one for the team Coop!

To top off his exciting weekend he got to speak in Sacrament. His topic was honesty and he did a great job! He got lots of compliments on his public speaking. His primary teacher said he did a better job than most of the youth that speak. We were very impressed. WICKED GOOD JOB COOPER!!

From the mouth of babes

Here are some resent interactions with our kids that we found amusing and one that stopped me in my tracks.

Cooper recently took a tour of our neighbor's house and was very excited to share what he saw with me. He said Gerry had this thing that played really big cd's and you put it on this thing and then put this other thing on top and it would play music. I said "you mean a record player!" and he said "yes that's what he called it"

Ella was telling me the other day that Jack's name is cool because he was named after a soda. I didn't know what she meant so I asked what soda. She said "you know that song where they say I'm going to go drink me some Jack." I'm not sure what song she's talking about but apparently I need to pay more attention to our song selections.

Here's another one from my sweet girl: Sunday morning Ella was being very bossy saying things like, "you cannot wear those shoes" and "who turned this music on? Turn it off right now!" I think you get the picture. I finally asked her why she was being so mean to everyone and with the most innocent expression she looked at me and said "I'm being a mom" Boy did I feel good after that! Needless to say mom is a little more aware of how she's talking to her kids this week.

Not to leave cutie patutie Mason out of the quotable quotes, We went to a baptism last night and after watching them come out of the water Mason looked up at Victor and exclaimed "Dad that was AWESOME!"

Ella's 6th Birthday

Our little princess turned 6 years old on January 31. What a way to start the year! She got to be celebrity for a day when her name appeared on the Shaw's Hardware sign in downtown Sanford. Her dad created lots of little chocolate ballerinas and we decorated her cake with them. When we left for church that morning there were signs up in the front yard wishing her a Happy Birthday. I did not know who had done it until Mason piped up and said that he and his dad had done it. When I told Victor how sweet that was later that day, he told me it wasn't him or Mason but that the Shaw's had done it. We love the Shaw's! We love Mason too, we just need to work on teaching him to not take credit for things he did not do!! We had a fun little party with just our family and some close friends. Ella had a blast and is still enjoying her gifts. This is also her first year in school so of course we had to bring cupcakes to share. FYI, nothing will give you an ego boost like a bunch of little kindergarteners who are excited for sugar. I was told many times that I made the best cupcakes in the whole world. And of course I took full credit, sorry Duncan Hines but I have a reputation to think about..... ok maybe I know where Mason gets his delusions of grandeur from.
